Department of Dental Services

The Department of Dental Services offers diagnostic, curative, restorative and preventive dental services including surgical interventions, and in addition, provides basic preventive dental education and communication to the people of Ogun state and its environs.

The staff strength of the department consist of 3 consultants (2 Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and 1 Restorative Dentist), 4 dental officers, 3 dental technologists, 3 dental therapists, 6 dental technicians, 4 health attendants and 4 administrative and clerical staff.

Vision

To provide prompt and excellent dental services and be an accredited centre for residency training programme in dentistry.

Facilities and Services

Three functioning dental units (chairs), three dental X-Ray units, instruments for minor surgical and dental procedures.

A dental laboratory unit for the fabrication of simple removable prostheses.

Wide range of dental and maxillofacial surgical procedures

Wide range of restorative dental procedures including endodontics, crowns and bridges

Needs

A standard well equipped dental clinic comprising of 5 sub-specialties: Oral and maxillofacial surgery unit, preventive dentistry unit, restorative dentistry unit, oral medicine and oral pathology unit and child oral health unit.

5-Year Targets

Provision of a standard accommodation to house the dental services department.

Procurement of modern equipment for oral and maxillofacial surgery, restorative and preventive dentistry, oral medicine and oral pathology unit and child oral health unit.

To have specialists in the sub-specialties of preventive dentistry, child oral health and oral pathology.

To become an accredited centre for the training of residents and house officers in dentistry.
